quonset mania

Quonset home anyone? Okay, maybe not a TRUE quonset hut, but it’s similar. And if Chris would buy this thing, we could make it our Photodude’s clubhouse. (that’s okay with you, isn’t it Chris?)

And for Doug — here’s some more quons-piration.

Are there still quonset huts behind Strong Hall? I remember them when I was in school but wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been hauled off by now. I know I have a photo or two of them lying around…

  1. I’m stoked. The quons-piration site rocks. I haven’t had a chance to dig in yet – but it should be fun. There are so many kooky people in this world. Can’t wait to find some other quirky quonsets, too.

The quonset huts on the KU campus no longer exisit. They’ve torn them all down. When I went to school there – the radio/tv deparment was in the barracks just south of Fraiser (they were first class), and some of the faculty had offices in quonsets. Ah, the good old days.

A Photodudes clubhouse. Now there’s a great idea.

  2. Whoa, I’ve got to check that out. That place looks perfect.

I remember reading once that quonset huts can be built in a day, which the Army and Marines perfected in World War II during the island-hopping campaign in the Pacific.

    Sounds like the perfect clubhouse.
